Colin Black

Colin and Sallie married in 1983, they have two grown sons and three grandchildren.  They were born and grew up in NW London. They lived in Musselburgh, to the east of Edinburgh 1993-2018. In March 2018 they re-located to York to establish Seek.

Colin gained a BA at Chelsea School of Art, then an MA at the Royal College of Art London. He worked for several different London design companies, as well as teaching part time at different colleges. He worked as senior lecturer, later becoming Head of Design, at Leith School of Art, for nearly twenty-five years. He has also always produced his own work, having had work in many solo and shared exhibitions.



Sallie Black

Sallie gained a B.Ed (Hons) and worked as a Religious Studies teacher at a secondary school in Kings Cross London for three years. After spending time raising the family, teaching was resumed in supply teaching mode at 36 local secondary schools in Scotland. Latterly she worked in reception at HealthLInk360, a healthcare charity.

Sallie’s ancestry, from parents back through six generations on each side, is nearly all from Yorkshire. Her maternal great-grandfather was the miller at Raindale Mill, now in the grounds of York Castle Museum, and her grandfather was born in the miller’s cottage.
